Job summary

Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) in Washington, DC seeks a literacy specialist to develop research-based ELA supports for elementary and secondary students, including English learners and students with disabilities. You will provide training, technical assistance, and data-driven strategies to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) such as DCPS and public charter schools.

The role reports to the Literacy Manager in the Division of Teaching and Learning and requires collaboration

Qualifications

Coursework must include study in at least four of the following areas: learning theory and related instructional design/education topics.
Includes instruction in educational evaluation and assessment methods.
Includes instructional product development and materials design.
Includes the application of computers in education and training.

Responsibilities

Develops a research-based, data-driven English Language Arts (ELA) support strategy for general education, students with disabilities, and English learners at elementary and secondary levels.
Provides professional development and technical assistance to LEAs on implementing universal supports to improve student achievement.
Collaborates with the division and other OSSE divisions to coordinate support for LEAs and schools in need of instructional improvement.
