Job summary

Friendship Public Charter School seeks a Literacy Coach to strengthen ELA and reading instruction. The Coach supports up to 10 ELA and/or reading teachers with a formative, non-evaluative coaching model, using the Danielson Framework and Wit and Wisdom as core guides.

The role emphasizes teacher growth and alignment with district goals across the Washington, DC campuses. The Literacy Coach will observe, provide targeted feedback, and model lessons, building capacity in foundational skills and

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in education, literacy, or related field.
At least five years of successful classroom teaching in ELA or reading.
Deep knowledge of the Science of Reading and Wit and Wisdom.
Teacher coaching experience.
Strong understanding of the Danielson Framework for Teaching.
Excellent communication and relationship-building with adult learners.

Responsibilities

Lead coaching cycles with planning, observation, and reflective feedback.
Model lessons and gradually release instructional responsibility to teachers.
Plan with teachers for Wit and Wisdom lessons and foundational skills instruction.
Observe instruction using Danielson language and provide actionable feedback.
Support teachers in setting and monitoring instructional goals.
Facilitate embedded professional learning and collaborative planning.
Partner with campus ILTs to align coaching with campus and network priorities.
