Job summary

Poughkeepsie City School District is seeking an experienced Secondary Instructional Coach (ELA) for the 2026-2027 year at PMS & MIDDLE SCHOOL. The role focuses on improving instruction, supporting teachers, and fostering data-driven improvement across grade 6-12.

The coach will model effective teaching, plan professional development, analyze student data, and help implement targeted interventions. This is not a supervisory role but a key driver of instructional quality district-wide.

Qualifications

• 5+ years teaching experience in grades 6-12 with tenure.
• Master's Degree and NYS Certification in relevant content area.
• Experience coaching teachers and delivering professional development.
• Understanding of high-quality instruction and tiered support.
• Experience analyzing data to improve instruction.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Model instructional delivery and provide feedback to enhance pedagogy.
• Support teachers with targeted lessons and interventions.
• Guide teams in analyzing student data to set learning goals.
• Collaborate with grade-level chairs and principals to share best practices.
• Maintain weekly logs of objectives for classroom and content support.
• Participate in NYSED Coaching for Excellence milestones.
