Job summary

Making Waves Academy in Richmond, CA seeks an Instructional ELA Coach to lead coaching and development for teachers, with focus on instructional best practices and core programs. The role reports to the Principal and works with division leaders to elevate teaching quality and student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of teaching experience.
• California Teaching Credential required.
• M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction or equivalent preferred.
• Strong coaching and facilitation skills.
• Experience leading professional development workshops and PD planning.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and support teachers using a standardized, school-wide instructional framework.
• Create and implement professional development plans and opportunities for staff.
• Provide coaching and feedback to improve core instructional practices and pacing.
• Conduct classroom observations and provide actionable feedback to improve teaching methods.
• Collaborate with leaders to design engaging, student-centered lessons aligned with core playbooks.
