Job summary

Pearson seeks a Specialist within Content Development to act as a content and assessment expert for K-12 assessments across the United States. You will collaborate with education departments, committees of educators, and business partners to develop standards-based assessments that are accessible to all students.

You will leverage AI-powered tools to create, review, and enhance assessment content, train writers, and support customer meetings while staying current with AI innovations in education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, content-specific area, or equivalent experience.
• Five years' experience as an elementary or secondary teacher in the field of content-specific area preferred.
• Professional knowledge of content-specific area and educational trends required.
• Some experience in large-scale, educational measurement preferred.
• General knowledge of all phases of the development, processing, scoring, and reporting of large-scale assessments preferred.
• Demonstrated excellence in AI-supported content development, or clear evidence of strong potential and readiness to leverage AI effectively in content creation.
• Experience or familiarity with prompting, refining, and evaluating AI-generated content for education purposes.
• Skill in basic software tools and technology and the confidence necessary to work with unfamiliar programs.
• Demonstrated interest in learning about and adapting to new AI technologies as they evolve.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to creatively and flexibly address challenges with a variety of audiences.
• Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work on multiple activities and adapt to unexpected event

Responsibilities

• Develop and review content-specific test items across grade levels and assessment types.
• Help develop item, passage, and test specifications and blueprints.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to support content quality and accessibility standards.
• Collaborate to integrate AI-generated assets in assessment workflows.
• Select, assign, and train item writers and educators to develop items based on standards and cognitive complexity.
• Facilitate customer meetings and provide content assessment expertise.
• Support test construction and review of composed test forms.
• Consult with customers in planning and reviews.
• Collaborate with test development managers and psychometricians.
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies in education.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Travel as required
