Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Specialist on the Content Development team to create and review K-12 assessment content for state and district clients across the United States. You will work as both content expert and assessment designer, leveraging AI to enhance outputs and ensure accessibility for diverse learners.

You will collaborate with educators, psychometricians, and Pearson groups to develop items, passages, and test specs, while staying current with AI technologies and customer needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, content-specific area, or equivalent experience.
• Five years’ teaching experience in elementary or secondary content area preferred.
• Professional knowledge of content area and educational trends required.
• Some experience in large-scale educational measurement preferred.
• General knowledge of development, processing, scoring and reporting of large-scale assessments preferred.
• Excellence in AI-supported content development or readiness to leverage AI in content creation.
• Experience or familiarity with prompting, refining, and evaluating AI-generated content for education.
• Skill with basic software tools and the confidence to work with unfamiliar programs.
• Interest in learning about and adapting to new AI technologies as they evolve.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to address challenges with diverse audiences creatively and flexibly.
• Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities for multiple activities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review content-specific test items across grade levels for large-scale assessments.
• Help develop item, passage, and test specifications and blueprints.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to support assessment content development and accessibility.
• Collaborate to integrate AI-generated assets in assessment workflows with feedback.
• Select, train, and manage item/passage writers and educators to meet standards and best practices.
• Facilitate customer meetings and provide content assessment expertise.
• Support test construction activities and review of test forms.
• Consult with customers in planning, status, and review meetings.
• Work with test development managers, content developers, psychometricians, and Pearson groups.
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies relevant to content creation and assessment.
