Job summary

Blue Origin in Florida is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to implement EHS programs at the Merritt Island site, including hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, training, and incident investigations.

The role requires collaboration across teams, a strong safety culture, and the ability to pass background checks and obtain necessary certifications. Applicants should be U.S. citizens or eligible and be prepared for varied shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field required; 3-5 years of industry-related experience preferred
• Must successfully complete RCRA and DOT training within six months of the position for hazardous waste storage, disposal, and transportation
• Must be willing to obtain other certifications including forklift and First Aid/CPR/AED
• Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations
• Strong computer aptitude including the latest Microsoft Office programs
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties associated with the management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste
• Conduct routine environmental and safety inspections
• Participate on safety walks and safety committee; follow up on corrective actions
• Collect and enter data into EHS software modules
• Serve as a resource to work groups on EHS questions
• Assist in incident investigations and follow-up actions
• Assist in Job Hazard Analysis development
• Perform health and safety audits as required
• Run reports to convey information in a logical format
• Other duties as assigned
