We have an opening for an EHS Mgr II – Environmental/ Wastewater (Remote) in IL.

The role involves overseeing environmental compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, integrating safety and environmental management into operations, and working with management to meet safety and environmental goals. The manager will also provide guidance on program implementation and improvements, participate in leadership meetings, and coordinate with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead technical and program management activities across multiple locations, ensuring compliance within complex regulatory frameworks.
• Provide expertise on wastewater collection, treatment, and discharge for environmental protection.
• Advise management on workplace safety and environmental practices, conduct audits, and develop corrective actions.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other relevant regulations, including record-keeping and reporting.
• Support a culture of safety and compliance at all facilities.
• Act as liaison with regulatory agencies and consultants for environmental matters.
• Research and recommend improvements to EHS performance and policies.
• Assist with permitting, reporting, and response to regulatory inspections and non-compliance issues.
• Provide environmental training and investigate incidents related to spills or releases.
• Coordinate with vendors, insurance, and internal teams to ensure environmental standards are met.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of all environmental documentation.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial safety, environmental sciences, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 8 years of progressive experience in safety, environmental regulation, preferably in manufacturing or transportation.
• CPR/First Aid certification; OSHA certifications and CSP preferred.

Skills and Abilities

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and environmental management systems.
• Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations.
• Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to develop and enforce safety programs, lead strategic initiatives, and work effectively in teams.
• Ability to respond calmly in emergencies and manage multiple priorities.

Reporting and Travel

• May supervise 1-2 EHS staff.
• Travel requirements: 50-60%.
