Job description

Job Title: EHS Specialist

The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist's main responsibility is to ensure that daily environmental and safety activities are completed according to the site Environmental Health and Safety Plan. This position will also coordinate all aspects of safety and environmental compliance, as well as company training programs.

This role is based at our Appleton, WI performance center and supports both the Appleton, WI, and St. Croix Falls, WI locations.

Job Summary
EH&S Facilitation, Administration, and Site Management Responsibilities:
  • Lead monthly facility safety committee meetings.
  • Assist with incident investigations.
  • Manage documentation related to injuries, including near misses, first aid, and accident investigations.
  • Ensure environmental compliance through waste disposal, records, reports, and plans.
  • Develop and maintain safety programs through goal deployment.
  • Maintain environmental logs for VOC and paint usage for reporting.
  • Assist Regional EHS Manager in analyzing EHS data for validity and quality.
  • Collect samples for SWPPP, hazardous waste, and wastewater testing.
  • Coordinate with agencies such as EPA, DNR, fire departments, health agencies, DOT, and others.
Training, Inspections, and Auditing Responsibilities:
  • Conduct safety training sessions and track attendance.
  • Ensure safety inspections are completed and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Maintain records of safety events and audits.
  • Train managers and supervisors on GENSUITE software.
Metrics and Performance Management Responsibilities:
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety metrics such as OSHA recordables, near misses, audits, and inspection completion rates.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and EHS management software like Gensuite.
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Work effectively under pressure.
  • Team-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement.
Required Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in an EHS-related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in environmental and safety roles within manufacturing.
