Job summary

Hart & Hickman, PC is seeking an experienced safety professional to help lead our internal health and safety programs. You will work alongside the Health & Safety Lead, owning major components from day one and growing into the program lead role.

You will manage HASPs, training, field safety audits, incident investigations, and subcontractor safety oversight across projects in the Carolinas, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years health & safety experience in environmental consulting or related field.
• Strong knowledge of HAZWOPER (29 CFR 1910.120) and construction safety (29 CFR 1926).
• Experience writing and reviewing site-specific HASPs and leading incident investigations.
• Strong training and communication skills; able to hold a room of scientists and engineers' attention.
• Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Owns H&H's corporate health & safety program: policies, SOPs, medical surveillance, respiratory protection, PPE, fleet and field safety, and regulatory compliance (OSHA 1910.120 and 1926).
• Develops site-specific HASPs and conducts Job Safety Analyses.
• Leads firm-wide safety training, including HAZWOPER refresher coordination and onboarding.
• Performs field safety audits across active project sites in the Carolinas.
• Leads incident and near-miss investigations, performs root cause analyses, and documents corrective actions and OSHA recordkeeping.
• Oversees subcontractor safety prequalification and oversight (drilling, remediation, construction subs).
• Serves as in-house technical safety resource for project teams.
