Job summary

UNFI's Environmental Health & Safety Partner at the distribution center in Virginia is responsible for executing the EHS strategy, advising site stakeholders, and maintaining the EHS management system to support a safe, compliant operation.

The role requires 3+ years of EHS program management, an associates degree in EHS or related field, and certifications such as ASP, CSP, or CIH are preferred. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in EHS or closely related field required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• ASP certification preferred.
• CSP or CIH or other EHS certifications highly desirable.
• 3+ years of progressive EHS program management experience.
• Ability to coordinate with operations, HR, and claims for continuous improvement.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and incident investigations.

Responsibilities

• Execute injury prevention programs/initiatives to motivate and influence a world class safety culture.
• Identify, assess, and control site-level hazards and support detailed incident investigations with root cause analyses.
• Analyze trends to reduce injury frequency/severity and develop training programs.
• Partner with functional leaders to influence EHS resources, projects, and decisions.
• Provide input on standardized safety systems, policies, training, campaigns and programs to reduce risk and ensure compliance.
• Support environmental compliance and claims programs.
• Create a network of internal and external alliances to develop and implement EHS policies and processes.
• Perform other duties as required.
