JMJ PHILLIP seeks an experienced EHS Manager to lead and continuously improve EHS programs in a manufacturing setting in Fremont, CA. The role partners across Engineering, Maintenance, and Production to ensure compliance and a strong safety culture.

The candidate will drive incident investigations, risk assessments, audits, and cross-functional safety initiatives while promoting environmental responsibility and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and state requirements.
  • Experience with environmental compliance and safety management systems.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, audits, and CAPA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS policies and initiatives.
  • Manage site EHS management systems and align with standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead health and safety initiatives and support emergencies and crisis management.
  • Ensure required EHS training for employees and contractors.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and other departments on safe practices.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead and continuously improve comprehensive EHS programs within a manufacturing environment. This role will ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a strong culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will be a hands‑on leader who can collaborate effectively across Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and other functional teams.

Position Responsibilities
EHS Program Management
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Manage site EHS management systems and ensure alignment with applicable standards and environmental management requirements.
  • Establish and maintain effective safety and environmental processes across the facility.
  • Lead site health and safety initiatives and support emergency and crisis management activities.
Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, applicable state safety regulations, environmental requirements, and other relevant standards.
  • Coordinate regulatory audits, inspections, investigations, reporting, and corrective actions.
  • Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Maintain required environmental and safety documentation and ensure site programs remain current.
Incident Investigation & Risk Management
  • Lead investigations of EHS‑related incidents, near misses, and other safety events.
  • Identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct and update risk assessments and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Participate in hazard reviews and ensure appropriate safety controls are implemented.
Training & Employee Engagement
  • Ensure employees and contractors complete required EHS training.
  • Lead safety committees and site‑wide safety engagement initiatives.
  • Promote employee participation and accountability in EHS programs.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to employees and leaders on safety and environmental requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and other departments to ensure safe equipment, processes, and work practices.
  • Provide EHS expertise during process improvements, equipment changes, and operational initiatives.
  • Apply analytical techniques and professional communication practices to resolve EHS issues effectively.
Prerequisites
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and applicable state‑specific safety requirements.
  • Experience with environmental compliance and safety management systems.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, audits, and corrective action processes.
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with employees and leaders across multiple departments.
  • Experience supporting EHS programs in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP).
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • Environmental or safety‑related professional certifications.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 or similar environmental management systems.
  • Familiarity with World Class Manufacturing (WCM) or other continuous improvement frameworks.

  • Salary Range: $103,000–$159,000 annually, including target total cash compensation based on base salary and performance‑based bonus.
