Job summary

JMJ PHILLIP seeks an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead plant maintenance, reliability, and engineering activities at our Fremont, CA facility. You will partner with Operations, EHS, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to drive safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing.

Responsibilities include developing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, leading root cause analyses, managing budgets, and guiding capital projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial preferred).
  • 8–10+ years in a manufacturing environment with maintenance and engineering responsibilities.
  • Strong maintenance and reliability background with safety focus.
  • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, and automated systems.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and leading investigations.
  • Supervisory or management experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Lead equipment reliability initiatives, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
  • Troubleshoot complex manufacturing systems involving hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, and automated equipment.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, and other reliability-focused methodologies to improve equipment performance and operational efficiency.
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor maintenance activities while ensuring effective use of labor, materials, and resources.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, maintenance spending forecasts, and capital expenditure plans.
  • Monitor maintenance costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operational expenses.
  • Utilize ERP and work order systems to support maintenance planning, inventory management, and performance tracking.
  • Lead and supervise maintenance, reliability, automation and controls, planning, and storeroom personnel.
  • Support employee development, performance management, succession planning, and workforce engagement.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee capital and infrastructure projects from concept through implementation.
  • Develop technical specifications, evaluate vendors, coordinate equipment procurement, and support engineering analysis.
  • Manage project schedules, resources, expenditures, and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, on time, and with minimal disruption to production.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, engineering, and maintenance standards.
  • Support EHS programs through safety audits, incident investigations, near-miss reviews, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain and review Job Safety Analyses, Standard Operating Procedures, and other operational standards.
  • Support waste management, recycling, sustainability, and environmental stewardship initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, reliability, and overall plant performance.
  • Analyze operational data and implement solutions that improve manufacturing effectiveness.
  • Lead initiatives that reduce waste, downtime, and process variation.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to provide leadership and strategic direction for plant maintenance, reliability, and engineering activities. Maintenance & Reliability

Prerequisites
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 8–10+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment, including maintenance and engineering responsibilities.
  • Strong maintenance and reliability background within a manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, reliability, cost control, and operational efficiency.
  • Practical knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, and automated manufacturing systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex manufacturing equipment and leading root cause analyses.
  • Understanding of applicable OSHA, environmental, building, and other manufacturing-related regulations.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with maintenance planning, inventory management, capital project tracking, and work order systems.
  • Experience with data analysis, statistical methods, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement practices is preferred.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
  • Six Sigma certification.
  • Lean Manufacturing certification.
  • Maintenance and reliability-related certifications.
  • Professional engineering or other relevant technical certifications.
