Job summary

General Tool Co, located in Reading, OH, seeks an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to own and continuously improve safety and environmental programs across operations. You’ll partner with Engineering, Maintenance, and HR to embed risk controls from design through execution, ensuring compliance and a strong safety culture.

You'll lead investigations, manage industrial hygiene, and coordinate training and emergency response to protect workers and meet regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of OSHA General Industry regulations and inspections.
• Experience managing environmental permits, reporting, and agency relationships.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and continuously improve the site EHS management system with written programs.
• Ensure full compliance with OSHA General Industry standards and regulations; serve as primary contact during inspections.
• Lead incident investigations using root cause analysis and drive corrective actions to closure.
• Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, and Facilities during equipment installations and process changes to eliminate hazards.
• Conduct floor walks, job hazard analyses, and safety audits across all shifts and areas.
• Own industrial hygiene program including noise, air quality, and chemical exposure monitoring.
• Manage workers’ compensation process in partnership with HR and return-to-work programs.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs and keep records audit-ready.
• Lead emergency response planning and coordinate with local authorities.
• Collaborate with Quality and CI to embed safety into Kaizen events.
