Job summary

Anoplate in Syracuse, NY seeks a Safety Specialist to maintain safety programs and ensure compliance with EHS requirements across our production facilities. You will educate staff, lead safety initiatives, and champion safe working conditions on the shop floor.

You will drive incident investigations, OSHA reporting, and training programs while partnering with HR and site leadership to reduce risks and protect employees.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Training completed.
• 4-year college education in a technical field (industrial safety, environmental, or related).
• HAZWOPER 24- or 40-Hour Certification.
• Lock Out Tag Out knowledge.
• Basic computer skills: Limble CMMS, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to handle confidential information.
• Able to communicate across 3 shifts.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily health and safety operations for all staff and eliminate safety obstacles.
• Inspect facilities daily for hazards and oversee corrections.
• Advise on EHS strategy and culture, aligning with goals and best practices.
• Lead the First Responder Team and Emergency Coordinator role.
• Investigate near misses and incidents, determine root causes, and drive corrective actions; coordinate with HR on Workers’ Compensation.
• Track incidents and calculate safety metrics monthly; report OSHA 300 annually.
• Develop and enforce Health and Safety Programs and training content.
• Coordinate contractor safety and on-site communication during tasks.
• Walk the facility to maintain EHS presence and support teams.
• Assist Director of EHS with regulatory inspections (OSHA, DOL).
• Maintain Safety Management System documents and training materials.
• Lead Safety Committee and track follow-up actions.
