Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to support Launch Operations at the Vandenberg facility. The role focuses on hazard assessments, incident investigations and ensuring regulatory compliance to support an aggressive launch cadence.

Responsibilities include OSHA, EPA, and local regulations, plus site safety programs, incident management, and recordkeeping for waste management at the Vandenberg, CA site.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in environmental, health, and safety disciplines.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Experience with interpreting federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain compliance with regulations by Cal-OSHA, Federal OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, and Vandenberg AFB.
• Collaborate with department leadership on hazard assessments and safety policies.
• Participate in pre/post launch site hazardous operations.
• Monitor exposure to physical and chemical hazards and recommend mitigations.
• Inspect facilities and equipment to identify hazards and implement guarding.
• Investigate accidents to determine root causes and corrective actions.
• Maintain compliance with EPA, CUPA, SBAQMD, RWQCB, CEQA, NEPA; perform due diligence audits.
• Review new environmental laws and guide management.
• Maintain recordkeeping for permitted sources defined by SCAQMD.
• Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
