Job summary

SpaceX in California’s Vandenberg area seeks an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to support Launch Operations at the SpaceX launch facility. You will assess hazards, investigate incidents, and implement health and safety policies to sustain a high cadence of launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 3+ years in environmental health and safety disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain compliance with Cal-OSHA, Federal OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, and Vandenberg AFB.
• Collaborate with leadership to complete job hazard assessments and implement policies.
• Participate in pre- and post-launch site hazardous operations.
• Monitor exposure to physical and chemical hazards and recommend remedial actions.
• Inspect facilities and equipment to identify hazards and implement guarding.
• Document safety observations from hazard identifications audits.
• Investigate accidents to determine root causes and preventive measures.
• Maintain compliance with EPA, CUPA, SBAQMD, RWQCB, CEQA, and NEPA regulations.
• Review new environmental laws and provide guidance to management.
• Maintain records for SCAQMD permits.
