Job summary

Whiting-Turner Contracting Company seeks an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to support construction projects in the Washington DC metro area, including College Park, MD and Herndon, VA offices.

The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in EH&S or related field and active safety certifications; you will perform site inspections, incident investigations, and oversee permits and IH practices to maintain a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in an Environmental Health and Safety Related field.
• Recognized Safety Professional Certification (examples) BCSP (GSP or ASP).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Perform regular job site inspections to identify, document and mitigate hazardous conditions and verify corrections.
• Support incident investigations including interviews, data collection, photos, and proper documentation.
• Evaluate planning/permits such as Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation, etc.
• Apply Industrial Hygiene principles for hearing conservation, silica, asbestos, lead, and related hazards.
• Understand fire protection, storage/handling of flammable/combustible materials, and OSHA regulations.
