Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company seeks an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to support construction projects across Maryland. The role requires coordinating safety programs, inspections, and incident investigations to enhance project safety performance.

Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in EH&S, and possess recognized safety certifications (BCSP GSP/ASP preferred). The position is site-based with opportunities to impact safety culture and compliance across the business unit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in an Environmental Health and Safety Related field.
• Recognized Safety Professional Certification (examples).
• BCSP (GSP or ASP).

Responsibilities

• Perform regular job site inspections to identify hazards and verify remediation actions.
• Support incident investigations with interviews, data collection and documentation.
• Evaluate planning/permits such as Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation, etc.
• Apply Industrial Hygiene principles for hearing conservation, silica, asbestos, lead, etc.
• Understand fire protection and storage/handling of flammable materials.
• Maintain working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
