Job summary

Whiting-Turner Contracting Company (WT) is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer for construction projects. The role requires broad technical and managerial safety expertise and active participation in project teams.

Responsibilities include site inspections, incident investigations, permit evaluations (hot work, confined space, fall protection, excavation), and implementing OSHA and Industrial Hygiene practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety field required.
• BCSP GSP or ASP safety certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular job site inspections to identify and mitigate hazards and verify corrective actions.
• Assist incident investigations with interviews, data collection, photos, and proper documentation.
• Evaluate planning/permits such as Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation, Steel Erection, Energized Work, and Pre-cast Tilt-Up.
• Apply Industrial Hygiene concepts (hearing conservation, silica, asbestos, lead).
• Understand fire protection and storage of flammable/combustible materials.
• Maintain working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
