EHS Coordinator: On-Site Safety Leader

Job summary

EHSCareers is seeking a hands-on EHS Coordinator in Northeast Ohio to develop, implement, and maintain workplace health and safety programs. You will work with employees and leadership to support OSHA compliance, identify hazards, maintain safety records, and promote a proactive safety culture across the organization.

The role includes assisting with safety policy implementation, training, audits, and incident investigations while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Safety, HR, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
• 1–3 years of Safety or EHS experience preferred.
• Experience with OSHA regulations and compliance programs.
• Experience in manufacturing, construction, industrial, or similar environments preferred.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30-Hour Certification preferred.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Comfortable working directly with employees and leadership to address safety concerns.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementation and continuous improvement of safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain safety records, reports, OSHA logs, and training documentation.
• Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
• Assist with updating safety manuals, programs, and SOPs.
• Conduct or assist with employee safety training and toolbox talks.
• Communicate safety expectations and procedures to employees.
• Conduct routine safety inspections of facilities, equipment, production floors, and job sites.
• Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Follow up to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Assist with internal and external safety audits.
• Support investigations of workplace incidents and near misses.
• Gather witness statements, photographs, and supporting documentation.
• Support emergency response planning and safety drills.
• Assist with fire prevention, evacuation planning, and emergency equipment inspections.
• Support company-wide safety initiatives and proactive safety culture.
