Job summary

Saint-Gobain/CertainTeed is seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator for our Peachtree City, GA facility under the EHS Manager. You will coordinate and implement the site’s H&S programs, ensuring compliance with regulations and corporate standards, and facilitate safety meetings and training.

You will also conduct inspections, develop safety programs, manage OSHA documentation, and provide break relief for the Quality Process Inspector during absences, while maintaining records and supporting

Qualifications

  • Professional safety certifications - Preferred.
  • 5 years professional plant level experience in health & safety management systems and compliance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure facility compliance with corporate, local, state and federal H&S regulations.
  • Coordinate Annual H&S Action Plan and mandated programs (SMAT, TOS, NOS, Permit to Work).
  • Facilitate EH&S meetings, contractor and visitor orientations.
  • Stay current with regulations and implications for the facility.
  • Train staff on safety policies following OSHA rules.
  • Identify, analyze and control occupational hazards using professional engineering knowledge.
  • Inspect facility to detect hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop, deliver safety programs and seminars; write updates.
  • Support managers with health and safety questions; administer safety programs.
  • Prepare safety materials, visuals, and presentations; set up AV equipment.
  • Schedule Forklift Safety Program and on-site safety shoe trucks.
  • Support EH&S Systems adherence by hourly workforce; lead by example.
  • Develop and review JSA’s; document OSHA-related information.
  • Maintain corrective & preventive action logs, objectives & program monitoring.
  • Enter Near Miss/SMAT and Forklift SMAT data into plant tracking sheets.
  • Provide break relief coverage for Quality Process Inspector and perform routine quality inspections when needed.

Job description

Under the leadership and guidance of the site EHS Manager, the Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for coordination and implementation of the site’s Health and Safety (H&S) programs for the Peachtree City, GA facility.

  • Perform activities necessary to ensure that the facility is in compliance with all corporate, local, state and federal H&S regulations. Interact with outside vendors as necessary to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordination of the Annual Health & Safety Action Plan as well as Corporate mandated plans and objectives such as SMAT, TOS, NOS, Permit to Work Program, and various compliance programs.
  • Assist with the facilitation of EH&S meetings, Contractor and Visitor Health & Safety Orientations.
  • Stay up to date with the local, state and federal safety and health regulations and keep informed of all upcoming regulations and their effect upon the facility.
  • Assist in training staff on general safety policies and procedures to be followed by plant personnel in compliance with corporate, local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Assist in identification, analysis and control of occupational hazards requiring the application of professional engineering knowledge, skill and abilities.
  • Facilitates inspection of facility to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards and recommends corrective or preventive measures where appropriate.
  • Assist in the research, planning, organizing, and conducting of safety programs, and seminars.
  • Writes material for new safety programs; reviews, evaluates, and modifies existing and proposed programs; recommends appropriate changes.
  • Assist managers, supervisors & operators with problems & answer any questions they may have concerning health and safety matters.
  • Assists with preparing and administering various safety programs.
  • Prepares and distributes safety program aids such as instructional material, handouts, evaluation forms, and visual aids: sets up audiovisual equipment and makes presentations when necessary.
  • Schedules and administers Forklift Safety Program and schedules one onsite safety shoe trucks each year for employees to purchase safety shoes.
  • Support adherence to EH&S Systems by hourly workforce, lead by example.
  • Will participate in the development, understanding and review of all position JSA’s.
  • Document Controller for all OSHA documents.
  • Maintain and update Corrective & Preventive Action, Objectives & Program and Performance Measurement & Monitoring Logs.
  • Collect/enter Near Miss/SMAT and Forklift SMAT card info into plant tracking spreadsheet.

In addition to safety responsibilities, the Safety Coordinator will provide break relief coverage for the Quality Process Inspector as needed. This includes performing routine quality inspections, monitoring product compliance with established specifications, documenting inspection results, and communicating quality concerns to ensure consistent product standards are maintained during scheduled breaks and absences.
