This position serves as a visible safety leader and change agent by maintaining an active plant-floor presence, partnering with Operations and Maintenance to drive risk reduction and incident prevention, influencing safe behaviors, building employee engagement, and promoting environmental stewardship and continuous improvement across the site.

Nature & Scope Of Position
  • Provide day-to-day EHS support and guidance to supervisors, employees, Operations, and Maintenance to promote safe and compliant work practices.
  • Support site safety, environmental, risk reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives by helping identify hazards, evaluate controls, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Promote proactive hazard identification, near-miss reporting, employee engagement, safety huddles, inspections, and environmental walks to strengthen safety ownership.
  • Track EHS action items, leading indicators, audit readiness, regulatory records, and Saint-Gobain EHS initiatives to support compliance and site performance goals.
Essential Job Functions
  • Conduct routine plant-floor observations, inspections, behavioral observations, environmental walks, safety audits, and hazard/risk assessments to identify unsafe conditions, at-risk behaviors, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support incident and near-miss investigations, assist with root cause analysis, recommend corrective and preventative actions, and track actions to timely closure.
  • Assist with 4.0RMs, risk assessment updates, hazard controls, environmental/safety controls, regulatory recordkeeping, and follow-up on audit or inspection findings.
  • Coordinate and deliver EHS training, safety huddles, employee communications, coaching, and engagement activities to reinforce safe work practices and accountability.
  • Monitor, maintain, and communicate EHS metrics, leading indicators, incident trends, near-miss data, corrective action status, and other performance information to support site goals.
  • Support emergency preparedness activities, response drills, Safety Committee actions, Management of Change reviews, capital projects, equipment installations, WCM readiness, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Partner with Operations and Maintenance to support machine guarding, safe work procedures, PPE compliance, hazard communication, lockout/tagout, environmental compliance, and risk reduction efforts.
  • Manage and maintain the ERA system covering environmental aspects, representing approximately 25% of the role’s workload.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; EHS-related degree preferred.
  • Experience: 2-3 or more years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of OSHA/EPA requirements, incident investigation, root cause analysis, corrective actions, training, hazard communication, LOTO, emergency preparedness, MOC, and environmental compliance preferred.
  • Core Skills: Must demonstrate strong communication, coaching, organization, follow-up, documentation, problem-solving, influencing, and continuous improvement skills.
  • Certifications & Systems: Microsoft Office required; EHS systems and OSHA 30 preferred; CSP, ASP, CHMM, First Aid/CPR, or similar certifications a plus.
