Job summary

CertainTeed, a Saint-Gobain company and a leading North American building products brand, is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager in Georgia to lead strategic EHS programs, drive a strong safety culture, and ensure OSHA/EPA compliance across the plant.

You will partner with plant leadership to develop, implement, and improve safety and environmental initiatives, conduct risk assessments and audits, train staff, investigate incidents, and support CAPEX projects that protect people

Qualifications

  • EHS leadership experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience leading risk assessments, audits, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Ability to lead training and incident investigations.
  • Experience with CAPEX related EH&S projects.

Responsibilities

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager provides strategic leadership and direction for all environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace. This role is responsible for developing and fostering a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and corporate EHS regulations, policies, and standards.

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager provides strategic leadership and direction for all environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace. This role is responsible for developing and fostering a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and corporate EHS regulations, policies, and standards. The EHS Manager develops, implements, and continuously improves plant safety and environmental programs that support the organization's strategic objectives and annual EHS plan. Working collaboratively with plant leadership, the EHS Manager provides guidance and support to managers, supervisors, and employees on all EHS matters and serves as the primary resource for regulatory compliance and safety performance. Key responsibilities include leading risk assessments, safety audits, environmental compliance activities, employee training, incident investigations, corrective and preventive actions, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement initiatives. The EHS Manager coordinates and facilitates plant safety committees and drives employee engagement to create a proactive safety culture where hazards are identified, addressed, and eliminated. This position is accountable for ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements while minimizing organizational risk. The EHS Manager monitors key performance indicators, analyzes safety trends, and implements initiatives that reduce injuries, environmental impact, and regulatory exposure. The role exercises independent judgment on matters that can significantly affect employee safety, environmental compliance, financial performance, corporate reputation, and community relations. Decisions include evaluating workplace hazards, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, implementing corrective actions, and promoting safe work practices throughout the facility. The position also supports incident investigations, workers' compensation management, and regulatory inspections as needed. The EHS Manager is expected to work closely with all levels of the organization to build accountability, reinforce safe behaviors, and create a workplace where safety and environmental stewardship are core organizational values. This position may be assigned additional responsibilities and duties as business needs require.

SAFETY
  • Lead program development and training,
  • Lead audits, inspections, compliance calendar, record keeping
  • Lead/facilitate safety huddles. Ensure topics are value added, audit all shifts for compliance.
  • Identify and facilitate to correct hazards
  • Updating/keep current JSA's, LOTO, Machine Guarding. Includes training and audits.
  • Safety committee coordinator and safety team administrator,
  • OSHA compliance and recordkeeping.
  • Gensuite implementation and building
  • Network, share best practices with sister plants and other BU's
  • Lead efforts to implement new company safety tools/programs

ENVIRONMENTAL AND HEALTH COMPLIANCE
  • Lead program compliance for, ISA, BCP, GAPS and other E&H requirements. Ensure findings/observations are reconciled in a timely manner.
  • EHS program administration, training and reporting,
  • Sampling and recordkeeping for all plant discharge and waste streams
  • Proactively manage compliance inspections and represent the plant for all audits
  • Maintain all applicable certifications.
Appropriation Requests
  • Lead/write AR's related to EH&S initiatives
  • Support plant with EH&S expertise as it relates to all CAPEX
SECURITY
  • Coordinate all emergency response and relief.
  • Ensure BCP is updated to include emergency response and crisis management.
