Job summary

Dow is seeking an EH&S Program Specialist to develop and maintain safety programs, ensuring compliance and driving continuous improvement in workplace safety. You will manage risk assessments, regulatory adherence, and employee training to support operational excellence.

The role supports the Fort Saskatchewan Path2Zero initiative as part of Dow’s commitment to sustainability, reporting to the site EH&S leadership and collaborating with plant teams across Canada.

Qualifications

• EH&S Application: Leverage experience in Environmental Health and Safety to implement effective work processes and drive continuous improvements by conducting root cause analyses and executing follow-up actions.
• Prioritization Skills: Capable of organizing tasks, managing expectations, and setting priorities to meet stakeholder needs. Skilled in multitasking, problem-solving, and managing time effectively.
• Change Leadership: Lead and contribute to the change management process for EH&S-related projects and initiatives.
• Intervention & Coaching: Adept at identifying unsafe situations, taking necessary action, escalating issues, and providing guidance on safe work practices.
• Clear Communication: Proficient in professional communication across written, oral, visual, and digital platforms within the workplace.
• Teamwork Focus: Committed to effective teamwork, working harmoniously with colleagues to achieve shared goals.

Responsibilities

• Leads the execution of daily EH&S programs by implementing established safety standards and protocols.
• Ensures plant operations meet EH&S performance expectations by applying best practices in safety and environmental management.
• Provides guidance and expertise on EH&S-related policies, acting as a resource for plant teams.
• Functions as the primary point of contact for environmental, industrial hygiene, and health & safety inquiries.
• Supports and coaches employees on EH&S-related procedures and responsibilities.
• Contributes to the development and achievement of EH&S goals for the plant.
• Oversees and ensures timely completion of compliance-related tasks.
• Conducts or manages environmental and industrial hygiene evaluations, reporting key findings for regulatory adherence.
