YMCA of Central Massachusetts is seeking a Toddler Teacher at the Boroughs Family Branch to guide a developmentally appropriate curriculum and provide a nurturing, safe classroom environment. You will work under the Supervising Lead Teacher to promote social, cultural, educational, physical and emotional growth aligned with YMCA values.

The position requires 18+ years, completion of applicable certifications, and likely an associate degree or current enrollment.

Qualifications

• Meets educational and experience qualifications established by DEEC, NAEYC, and QRIS.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Must obtain CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention certifications.
• Previous experience with children in a developmental setting preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate activities and curriculum.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is strongly preferred.

• Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans to support a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Supervises the children, classroom, Teacher Assistants, and all activities; ensures care and safety of children.
• Makes ongoing observations and evaluations of each child according to schedule.
• Conducts parent conferences and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents; engages parents as volunteers.
• Maintains classroom and equipment; maintains program records including attendance, medical, and food service records.
• Posts schedule, curriculum, and menus according to regulation.
• Attends and participates in family nights, staff meetings, training, and YMCA events.

• Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child according to the required schedule.
• Conducts parent conferences and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers.
• Maintains classroom and equipment.
• Maintains required program records including attendance, medical, and food service records.
• Posts schedule, curriculum, and menus according to regulation.
• Attends and participates in family nights, staff meetings, staff training, and YMCA special events.
• Additional duties as required and assigned by a supervisor to support the overall mission of the YMCA and to ensure the success of the Child Care Department.

Qualifications

• Meets educational and experience qualifications established by DEEC, NAEYC, and QRIS.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Preferred associate degree or evidence of enrollment in a college degree program.
• Must obtain, and keep current, certification in CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention.
• Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities and curriculum.
• Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is strongly preferred to support effective communication with all members of our community.

Job Type: Full-time (Non-Exempt)

Schedule: 40 hours weekly position. Monday-Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm

Pay: $20.50-$25.13/hr (based on education and experience) with a full benefit package to include, generous PTO, access to facilities, Medical, Dental, Disability, Life, Vision, & Pet Insurance, and ability to participate 403B Retirement Savings Plan. Also, once fully vested, the YMCA will pay into a retirement account for you!

New hires for EEC teaching positions at the Boroughs Family Branch will get a $2,000 bonus which, $500 will be paid immediately upon hire, $500 upon completion of a 90-day review, and $1,000.00 at the 180-day mark.
