Job summary

The YMCA of Central Massachusetts is seeking an Infant Teacher at Boroughs Family Branch to provide direction for the classroom and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that promotes social, cultural, educational, physical and emotional growth.

Under supervision, you will supervise children and staff, conduct observations, maintain records, engage parents as volunteers, and participate in family nights and trainings while upholding YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility

Qualifications

  • Meets educational and experience qualifications established by DEEC, NAEYC, and QRIS.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Preferred associate degree or evidence of enrollment in a college degree program.
  • Must obtain, and keep current, CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention certifications.
  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities and curriculum.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is strongly preferred to support effective communication with all members of our community.

  • Has knowledge of and maintains NAEYC and DEEC standards.
  • Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans to support a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
  • Supervises the children, classroom, Teacher Assistants, and all activities. Ensures care and safety of children.
  • Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child according to the required schedule.
  • Conducts parent conferences and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers.
  • Maintains classroom and equipment.
  • Maintains required program records including attendance, medical, and food service records.
  • Posts schedule, curriculum, and menus according to regulation.
  • Attends and participates in family nights, staff meetings, staff training, and YMCA special events.
  • Additional duties as required and assigned by a supervisor to support the overall mission of the YMCA and to ensure the success of the Child Care Department.

Job Type: Full-time (Non-Exempt)

Schedule: 40 hours weekly position. Monday-Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm

Pay: $20.50-$25.13/hr (based on education and experience) with a full benefit package to include, generous PTO, access to facilities, Medical, Dental, Disability, Life, Vision, & Pet Insurance, and ability to participate 403B Retirement Savings Plan. Also, once fully vested, the YMCA will pay into a retirement account for you!

New hires for EEC teaching positions at the Boroughs Family Branch will get a $2,000 bonus which, $500 will be paid immediately upon hire, $500 upon completion of a 90-day review, and $1,000.00 at the 180-day mark.
