Job summary

Columbia University in the City of New York seeks an Educational Technologist to implement and support the SPS Academic Technology Stack. You will enable effective teaching with online, hybrid, and on-campus modalities and work with OCI colleagues to translate needs into practical tech solutions.

The role involves hands-on configuration, training, documentation, and participation in pilots of AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies to improve instructional outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent related experience required.
• Three years of related experience.
• Master’s degree in educational technology, instructional design, information technology, or a related field.
• Experience supporting faculty and academic programs in higher education.
• Experience participating in technology pilots, implementations, platform migrations, or other cross-functional technology projects.
• Familiarity with web APIs, system integrations, authentication protocols, or related technologies.
• Experience with scripting, automation, or other approaches to improving technology-enabled workflows.
• Familiarity with institutional requirements related to data privacy, information security, and accessibility.
• Knowledge of evidence-based online teaching practices or instructional design principles.
• Experience developing technology training, documentation, or other faculty-facing support resources.

Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, and maintain tools in the SPS Academic Technology Stack.
• Troubleshoot education tech issues; coordinate with CUIT and vendors for resolution.
• Support integrations among academic technologies and LMS.
• Participate in testing, QA, and deployment of new technologies and updates.
• Maintain documentation of configs, processes, and support procedures.
• Provide training and end-user support to faculty and staff.
• Develop user guides and tutorials for effective tech adoption.
• Support LMS use across online, hybrid, and in-person modalities.
• Collect usage data to evaluate tech effectiveness and inform improvements.
• Monitor edtech trends and share with colleagues.
