Job summary

Douglas County School District is seeking an Educational Assistant (EA IV) for the Significant Support Needs (SSN) program at Bear Canyon Elementary. The role supports students with significant cognitive and health needs under a licensed special education teacher, focusing on functional, academic, and life skills in a structured environment.

You will assist with personal care, health procedures, and mobility, while promoting safety, independence, and engagement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with special education support preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Health, Mobility, & Safety: assist with positioning, transferring, mobility with equipment.
• Functional & Life Skills Support: support IEP goals and daily living skills.
• Assist with communication methods, including sign language, PECS, and AAC devices.
• Supervise students during transitions and activities to ensure safety.
