Job summary

Douglas County School District is seeking an Educational Assistant (EA IV) for the Significant Support Needs (SSN) program at Mountain Peak Elementary. The role provides intensive support to students with significant cognitive and physical needs, assisting with academics, life skills, communication, and safety in a structured learning environment.

The EA will help implement IEP goals, support daily living activities (including G-tube feeding), monitor health and safety, and promote independence

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions for implementing IEPs, health plans, and behavior protocols with high fidelity.
• Strong commitment to student dignity, safety, and promoting the maximum level of independence for all students.
• Willingness and ability to assist students with personal care, toileting, and mobility, including lifting and transferring (with appropriate training and assistance)

Responsibilities

• Functional & Life Skills Support: Support the implementation of IEP goals in collaboration with the Special Education Teacher, including academics, functional skills, communication, social skills, and vocational training.
• Health, Mobility, & Safety: Assist with student positioning, transferring, and mobility using specialized equipment; monitor health care procedures and maintain a safe, clean learning environment.
• Assist with daily living activities, including dressing, feeding (including G-tube feeding as trained), toileting/diapering, and personal hygiene.
• Aid students in using communication methods such as sign language, PECS, and AAC devices.
