Job summary

Five Town CSD in Camden, ME is seeking a Payroll Coordinator to manage bi-weekly payroll for district employees, including certified staff, classified personnel, substitutes, and temporary workers.

The role ensures regulatory compliance, maintains confidential records, and supports district financial operations. A detailed, organized candidate with public/education payroll experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred.
• 2–3 years payroll processing experience, preferably in public sector or education; proficiency with school payroll software systems desired.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Understanding of applicable federal, state, and local regulations (FLSA, ACA, COBRA, ERISA)

Responsibilities

• Accurately process bi-weekly payroll and pay for stipend positions.
• Calculate and process salary adjustments, overtime, stipends, and supplemental pay.
• Verify and pay all state and federal taxes; Prepare and file quarterly state and federal tax reports.
• Maintain accurate employee records including salary schedules, deductions, and benefit information.
• Process employee deductions.
• Respond to employee benefits concerns including: Insurance, retirement plans and contributions, time off.
• Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and district policies
• Maintain work calendars in time tracking and payroll systems.
• Coordinate with Human Resources to process FMLA leaves
• Assist with year-end reporting including W-2 preparation and distribution
• Support budget preparation by providing payroll projections and analysis
