Job summary

Five Town CSD and MSAD 28 in Camden, ME are seeking a Payroll Coordinator to join our team. This full-time position processes payroll for district employees, ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, and maintains confidential personnel information.

You will handle bi-weekly payroll, tax reports, deductions, benefits, and year-end tasks such as W-2s, in collaboration with Human Resources. We offer benefits, health insurance, paid holidays, and a supportive environment in a community

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2-3 years payroll processing experience, preferably in public sector or education; proficiency with school payroll software systems desired
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Understanding of applicable federal, state, and local regulations (e.g. FLSA, ACA, COBRA, ERISA)

Responsibilities

• Accurately process bi-weekly payroll and pay for stipend positions.
• Calculate and process salary adjustments, overtime, stipends, and supplemental pay.
• Verify and pay all state and federal taxes; Prepare and file quarterly state and federal tax reports.
• Maintain accurate employee records including salary schedules, deductions, and benefit information.
• Process employee deductions.
• Respond to employee benefits concerns including: Insurance, retirement plans and contributions, time off.
• Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and district policies
• Maintain work calendars in time tracking and payroll systems.
• Coordinate with Human Resources to process FMLA leaves
• Assist with year-end reporting including W-2 preparation and distribution
• Support budget preparation by providing payroll projections and analysis
