Job description

Education Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool) – Madera Community College

Essential Functions of Position
  • Teach a part‑time schedule of Education courses as assigned.
  • Coordinate field‑work placements for students at K‑12 schools.
  • Use a variety of pedagogies and integrate innovative and creative uses of technology for face‑to‑face, online, and/or hybrid formats.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Use effective teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter and adhere to institutionally approved curriculum outlines of record.
  • Evaluate student progress through tests, examinations, written assignments, oral responses, etc., in keeping with course objectives.
  • Provide course syllabi to students.
  • Maintain classroom records in accordance with District Policy.
  • Submit all required student grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner.
  • Teach assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including classes as needed.
  • Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students—relating to equity‑minded practice within the classroom.

  • Master’s in education; or
  • Valid California Community College Credential; or
  • Equivalent education and/or experience (requires equivalency).

Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion across responsibilities.
  • Recent experience working with racially and ethnically minoritized students and understanding historical exclusion patterns in higher education.
  • Willingness to examine and remediate instructional, relational, and classroom practices to engage racially minoritized students.
  • Related work and professional experience.
  • Experience with students of diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, ethnic backgrounds, and disabilities.
  • Experience with underrepresented student populations (e.g., students of color, foster youth) and supporting students across sociocultural diversities.
  • Experience facilitating multicultural and cross‑cultural communication with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience with, and sensitivity to, under‑prepared and high‑need students.
  • Demonstrated collaboration with faculty and staff to enhance instruction, curriculum, and student success.
  • Proficiency with computers and technologies used in high‑quality instruction.
  • Effective communication with students and staff.
  • Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials.
  • Knowledge of the college’s mission and goals.
Salary and Benefits
  • Newly hired part‑time faculty will be placed on step one (1) of the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
  • Salary classification placements are based on education and experience as outlined in the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Classifications.
  • Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
