Qualifications

• Valid California CCC Credential or equivalent teaching credential.
• Equivalent education/experience acceptable per district standards.

Responsibilities

• Teach a part-time schedule of Food & Nutrition courses as assigned.
• Use diverse instructional methods including technology for on-site, online, and hybrid formats.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
• Follow approved curriculum outlines and instructional methods.
• Evaluate student progress with tests, exams, and assignments aligned to objectives.
• Provide syllabi and maintain classroom records per district policy.
• Submit required grading and evaluation reports promptly.
• Teach in multiple settings and times as needed.
• Fulfill duties of instructors per Administrative Regulation 7122.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.

Education

Master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, or food administration

Bachelor’s degree in the above and Master’s in chemistry, public health, or family and consumer studies/home economics

A valid California Community College Credential

Food & Nutrition Instructor (Part‑Time Faculty Pool)

This posting establishes an applicant pool for part‑time faculty positions at Madera Community College. Candidates will be considered for future vacancies, with start dates varying as positions become available.

Responsibilities

• Teach a part‑time schedule of Food & Nutrition courses as assigned.
• Use a variety of pedagogies and integrated instructional delivery systems, including innovative uses of technology for face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
• Apply appropriate teaching methods that align with institutionally approved curriculum outlines.
• Evaluate student progress through tests, examinations, written assignments, oral responses, and other assessments aligned with course objectives.
• Provide course syllabi and maintain classroom records in accordance with District Policy.
• Submit required student grading and evaluation reports promptly.
• Teach in multiple instructional settings and times, including classes as needed.
• Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, and a commitment to equity‑minded practice.
• Master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, or food administration; or
• Bachelor’s degree in the above and Master’s in chemistry, public health, or family and consumer studies/home economics; or
• A valid California Community College Credential; or
• Equivalent education and/or experience requiring an equivalency.

Alternative qualification: A bachelor’s in nutrition, dietetics, or food administration, and certification as a registered dietitian.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into instruction.
• Recent experience working with under‑represented student populations, including African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other minority groups.
• Willingness to examine and remediate instructional, relational, and classroom practices to better engage racially minoritized students.
• Professional experience with multicultural and cross‑cultural communication.
• Ability to support under‑prepared and high‑need students.
• Collaborative skills with faculty and staff to enhance curriculum and student success.
• Proficiency with computers and educational technology.
• Effective communication skills with students and staff.
• Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials.
• Understanding of the community college mission and goals.

Salary and Benefits

• Newly hired part‑time faculty are placed on step one of the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
• Salary classification is based on education and experience per the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Classifications.
• Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
