Job summary

Job description

Education Instructor (Part‑Time Faculty Pool)

Madera Community College at Oakhurst is recruiting an equity‑minded educator to teach part‑time in the Education department. The instructor will design and deliver courses, integrate technology, assess student progress, and collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching a part‑time schedule of Education courses as assigned;
  • Using a variety of pedagogies and integrating a wide range of instructional delivery systems, including innovative and creative uses of technology for face‑to‑face, online, and/or hybrid formats;
  • Communicating effectively with students, faculty, and staff;
  • Using effective teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter and adhering to institutionally approved curriculum course outlines of record;
  • Evaluating student progress through tests, examinations, written assignments, oral responses, etc., in keeping with course objectives;
  • Providing course syllabi to students;
  • Maintaining classroom records in accordance with District Policy;
  • Turning in all required student grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner;
  • Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including classes as needed;
  • Otherwise fulfilling all of the duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in education, or a valid California Community College Credential, or the equivalent education and/or experience (requires equivalency);
  • Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity‑minded practice within the classroom;
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success achieved through collaboration.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility;
  • Recent experience working with racially minoritized students and understanding of historical exclusion patterns;
  • Willingness to examine and remediate instructional, relational, and classroom practices to better engage and support minoritized students;
  • Experience working with students of varied cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, and students with disabilities;
  • Experience facilitating multicultural and cross‑cultural communication with sensitivity to diverse student populations;
  • Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials;
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance instruction, curriculum, and student learning support;
  • Competence with computers and technologies utilized in high‑quality instruction;
  • Strong communication skills with students and staff.
Salary and Benefits
  • Newly hired part‑time faculty will be placed on step one of the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule;
  • Salary classification placements are based on education and experience as outlined in the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Classifications;
  • Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
Selection Procedure

The selection and hiring process for part‑time faculty positions is governed by the hiring department. When a vacancy arises the hiring department will contact selected candidates for interview. This posting has no closing date; applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and placed in a continuous pool. Start dates may vary. Applicants may withdraw at any time. The application will remain on file for 18 months; if not selected within that period a new application is required.
