Job summary

Police Athletic League Inc in New York City is seeking a part-time Education Specialist to develop age-appropriate curricula for after-school and summer programs, aligning with Common Core standards. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Education (NYS teaching certification preferred) and at least 2 years in curriculum development; Master’s preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field required.
• NYS Teaching Certification preferred; Master’s Degree strongly preferred.
• At least 2 years’ experience in curriculum development and lesson planning.
• Experience with elementary or middle school youth programming.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop age-appropriate curricula for after-school and summer programs.
• Work with the Youthlink Director to oversee program implementation.
• Assist center staff with delivery of lessons.
• Foster continuous quality improvement using data and school input.
• Develop relationships with school staff to align PAL goals.
• Provide training to group leaders, teachers and activity specialists.
• Plan and facilitate center parent workshops.
• Submit weekly, monthly reports and attend meetings as needed.
• Plan, set up and help cleanup PAL special events.
