Police Athletic League Inc. seeks Part Time Teachers to develop and implement a broad range of specialties including SEL, dance, sports, STEAM, and readiness.

The Teacher reports to the Compass or SONYC Director and collaborates with site leadership to deliver engaging programs for youth across NYC. The role requires a NYS Teaching Certificate, a Bachelor's or Master's in education, and 2 years of classroom teaching.

Qualifications

• Valid NYS Teaching Certificate required.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in education required.
• At least 2 years of classroom teaching experience.
• Excellent classroom management and facilitation skills.
• Strong communication and collaborative abilities; bilingualism preferred.
• Willingness to learn about mental health, SEL and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Teach fundamental skills in SEL, dance, sports, STEAM, literacy and more.
• Coordinate and present a culminating performance at the end of the program cycle.
• Monitor students with IEPs and medical needs and follow support plans.
• Provide referrals to mental health services as needed.
• Collaborate with staff, caretakers and program leaders; build positive relationships.
• Attend meetings and maintain open communication with caretakers.
