Job summary

Police Athletic League, Inc. in Queens, NY is seeking Part Time Teachers to develop and implement a broad range of specialties including SEL, dance, sports, STEAM, and literacy.

The Teacher will work with staff and site leadership and report to the COMPASS or SONYC Director. Requirements: valid NYS Teaching Certificate, bachelor’s or master’s in education, and at least 2 years of classroom teaching; strong classroom management and communication skills; bilingual in Spanish, French, or Chinese

Qualifications

• Valid NYS Teaching Certificate.
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in education.
• 2 years classroom teaching experience.
• Excellent classroom management, behavior management, and facilitation skills.
• Bi-lingual in Spanish, French, or Chinese preferred.
• Open to learning and growing; training in mental health, SEL, and inclusion.
• DOHMH/DOE clearances and fingerprints including an annual physical.

Responsibilities

• Foster inclusive, safe, and nurturing learning environments.
• Teach participants fundamentals of specialized activities to build skills.
• Coordinate and present culminating performances.
• Support students with IEPs and medical needs following support plans.
• Maintain communication with caretakers and staff; attend meetings as needed.
