Job summary

Police Athletic League Inc seeks a Content Specialist to support after-school and youth programming across NYC. The role focuses on developing curricula, delivering staff training, and ensuring funder requirements are met.

You will foster a safe, inclusive environment and work closely with site leaders to strengthen PAL's services citywide. Requirements include a Bachelor’s in a relevant field, 2+ years in curriculum development or coaching, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Child Development, Education, Youth Development or a related field is required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of demonstrated experience in curriculum development and/or implementation, observation, training, coaching, classroom teaching, and supervision.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish, French, or Chinese preferred.
  • Available for training opportunities outside of program hours.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and ability to work with diverse teams.
  • Willingness to travel to PAL locations in the five boroughs for professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Foster social and emotional competencies and mental and physical well-being in a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
  • Learn PAL curricula and turnkey training experiences for part-time staff to ensure lesson plans meet funder requirements.
  • Provide professional development to frontline staff in classroom management, behavior management, activity implementation, and facilitation.
  • Observe and evaluate program implementation and provide staff with feedback and coaching.
  • Collaborate with NYCPS partners to ensure seamless day school and PAL connections, especially for students with IEPs and mental health referrals.
  • Ensure alignment of programs with PAL objectives, policies, SACC regulations, and funding contracts.
