Job summary

The State Board of Education is seeking an Attorney 1 to conduct legal research, prepare reports, and respond to inquiries. You will assist staff attorneys with investigations involving educator misconduct and draft subpoenas/public records requests. You will prepare cases for administrative review and attend hearings.

Admission to the Ohio Bar is required. The role supports the Board in investigations, compliance, and public service, with standard full-time hours at the William Green Building

Qualifications

• Legal research and written reports are required.
• Respond to inquiries confidentially.
• Assist staff attorneys with investigations involving educator misconduct (non-criminal).
• Draft subpoenas and public records requests.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cases for administrative review of disciplinary action.
• Attend administrative hearings.
• Review hearing officer reports and recommendations.
• Respond to inquiries from agency employees, officials, and the public.
