Qualifications

  • Admission to Ohio Bar per Section 4705.01 of Revised Code.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation.
  • Probationary period is 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Presides over or represents BWC at quasi-judicial administrative hearings (e.g. IC hearings).
  • Advises business units on employer compliance and employer fraud matters.
  • Prepares difficult cases to present at IC hearings, reviewing files and researching issues.
  • Provides legal advice to state and county agencies, the public, and government officials regarding eligibility, reporting and benefits payable.
  • Reviews, drafts memoranda and work aids on topics like extraterritorial jurisdiction and specific industry laws.
  • Handles adjudication matters involving Marine Industry Fund and Black Lung Fund per applicable laws.
