Job summary

Cengage Group is seeking an innovative design leader to reshape educational technology experiences as VP of Design and User Experience. You will craft the vision and creative direction for learners, educators, and institutions.

Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Learning Science to deliver accessible, AI-enabled experiences that improve learning outcomes and unlock potential across the global education landscape.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in UX Design leading teams and design ecosystems in EdTech.
• 8+ years managing senior leaders and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience directing large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
• Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and connect investments to outcomes.
• Bachelor's or Master’s in Design, HCI, Learning Sciences, or related field.
• Strong understanding of learning principles and how design impacts outcomes in education.
• Familiarity with AI-powered UX, personalization tech, and automation workflows.
• Experience operating within a Product Operating Model or similar frameworks.
• Outstanding communication and storytelling to influence collaborators.

Responsibilities

• Develop and articulate a compelling design vision rooted in design thinking.
• Empower teams to pursue innovative approaches in education technology.
• Build and mentor a high-performing UX team.
• Establish design quality standards and conduct executive reviews.
• Incorporate UX principles across product development within roadmaps and timelines.
• Create scalable systems with AI-assisted prototyping and accessibility checks.
