Job summary

Cengage is seeking a UX Design Director to shape the future of educational technology. You will lead and mentor a team of designers, set design strategy, and partner with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to embed UX principles throughout the product lifecycle.

Grounded in customer insights and data, you will drive high-quality experiences, evolve design standards, and stay ahead of trends including AI capabilities to enhance our offerings for learners and educators.

Qualifications

3+ years of people management leading design teams of 10+
Deep expertise in UX/UI design principles and human-centered design
Strong leadership and mentoring track record
Excellent collaboration and communication; ability to influence and build partnerships
Portfolio is required

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a design team to deliver modern, data-informed experiences.
Partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing to align priorities and embed UX principles.
Develop scalable UX patterns and design standards across products.
Evolve UX standards and guidelines to ensure high quality experiences.
Continuously improve customer experience using data, research and insights.
Stay ahead of evolving design trends and AI capabilities to advance the practice.
Use design as a competitive differentiator to elevate product value.
Develop outstanding talent by coaching leaders and expanding impact.
