Job summary

Mattel is seeking a Sr Associate Managing Editor to oversee editorial workflows and content development across licensed and global publishing programs. You will coordinate schedules, freelancers, and digital publishing, and manage asset workflows to ensure timely, accurate content.

Work closely with Editorial, Production, Creative, Global Publishing, licensing, and external partners to drive operational excellence, mitigate risks, and maintain project visibility throughout the publishing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Publishing, English, Communications, Journalism, or related field (or equivalent).
• 3-5 years of experience in book publishing, managing editorial, production editorial, or publishing operations.
• Experience managing multiple book projects from manuscript through production.
• Experience coordinating external vendors, freelancers, packagers, or creative partners.

Responsibilities

• Own low-complexity titles from manuscript through print-ready files; coordinate vendors and with Production to ensure timely print.
• Plan and execute editorial workflows across multiple publishing programs; ensure deliverables stay on schedule.
• Coordinate editorial schedules and milestones; maintain project visibility and identify schedule risks.
• Manage freelancer and packager workflows; ensure manuscripts, revisions, artwork, and materials are delivered accurately and on time.
• Coordinate stills process across Mattel brands; ensure timely collection, organization, and posting of assets within Malibu.
• Oversee eBook production workflows; coordinate digital file builds, metadata accuracy, QA, and digital publication.
• Perform quality control reviews of editorial deliverables; ensure proper handoff to production.
