Job summary

Pearson in the United States is seeking a seasoned editor to manage core editorial responsibilities and quality assurance for assessment content. You will apply grammar, spelling, usage, and style per client standards and coordinate with Content, Editorial, and Assessment teams.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, 3 years of editorial experience and 2 years in educational assessment, and proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Office 365.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification/on-the-job training.
• Minimum of three years’ editorial experience and two years’ educational assessment experience.
• Strong end-to-end copyediting proficiency: spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, diction, and usage.
• Familiarity with major style guides (Chicago Manual of Style, Gregg Reference Manual, Garner’s Modern English Usage) and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Implements grammar, spelling, usage, punctuation, syntax, and style per department, client, and industry standards; applies rules consistently.
• Ensures uniformity and consistency across assessment components and identifies errors throughout the workday.
• Exercises good judgment when applying client style guidelines and may create/modify client style guidelines.
• Proactively seeks learning opportunities to strengthen editorial expertise and knowledge of style guides.
• Leads editorial coordination across teams and contributes to process improvements.
