Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. in Honolulu, Hawaii, is seeking a Software Engineer I to build high‑reliability, high‑throughput systems that manage security certificates and configurations for a global customer base.

You will design and develop scalable backend services and work with relational and NoSQL databases in a Linux/Unix environment. You’ll collaborate across teams, implement features from scratch, optimize existing functionality, and follow solid development practices with testing and SQA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Familiarity with Java and Python, C++, or Bash in Linux/Unix environments.
• Hands-on project experience with Spring and Spring Boot frameworks for building scalable backend applications.
• Hands-on project experience with UI technologies through Angular front-end development.
• Foundational understanding or project coursework in Terraform.
• Demonstrate understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres, Elasticsearch, Cassandra).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop highly scalable backend systems handling tens of thousands of operations.
• Develop software to make efficient use of relational and NoSQL databases.
• Create new features from scratch, enhance existing features and optimize existing functionality.
• Collaborate with testing and SQA to deploy new system components.
