Job summary

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to join a Level 1 Trauma Center team in New Hampshire. The role involves rotating Day/Night shifts (7a–7p and 7p–7a) across a busy ED, supporting nurses and physicians in patient care and logistics.

Responsibilities include patient care under RN supervision, vital signs collection, EKGs, specimen collection, ED clerical duties, and maintaining a safe environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a chaotic environment.
• Strong customer service and keyboarding skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care activities under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, including ADLs, vital signs, EKGs, specimen collection, and EMR documentation.
• Apply splints and immobilizers; remove IVs after competencies.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment; restock rooms and carts.
• Assist visitors, volunteers, and patient family members; mentor new staff.
• Monitor patients requiring close observation (suicidal/elopement risks, restraints).
• Perform clerical tasks (phones, faxes, critical communications) and manage health information/EMR.
• Perform other duties as required.
