Job summary

Portland Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Ed Tech III at King Middle School to support students with functional academics and behavioral plans. The role focuses on direct instruction, data collection, and collaboration with teachers and families to promote learner growth.

The position emphasizes inclusive practices, trauma-informed approaches, and confidentiality as part of the school’s mission to improve student outcomes and well-being.

Qualifications

• Maine State Educational Technician III authorization required.
• CPI training certification preferred.
• Experience working with students in structured settings preferred.
• Additional combinations of applicable education, training and experience welcome.
• If you already have an active Ed Tech certification, CHRC is not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction to students individually, in small groups, and in classroom settings.
• Implement lesson plans and follow schedules created by the Special Education Coordinator or related service provider.
• Maintain data and records and ensure FERPA confidentiality.
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and staff to support student learning and social-emotional needs.
• Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment and manage behavior using prescribed approaches.
