Job summary

Duke Raleigh Hospital, a campus of Duke University Health System, is seeking an Emergency Department Technician I to support acute care in the fast-paced ED.

Under nurse supervision, you will perform initial life support, assist with patient transport, and help stabilize patients. You will liaise with families and coordinate care as part of a collaborative team.

The role requires NCA I or EMT credentials and BLS, with night shifts and full-time hours available.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.
• Completion of NCA I training per NC Division of Facility Services.
• EMT training is preferred or required as applicable.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial basic life support interventions under nurse direction.
• Initiate life-saving measures such as airway management and cervical spine alignment.
• Stabilize and extricate patients from vehicles at the ED entrance.
• Assist patients to and from vehicles and to the treatment area.
• Communicate with patient families and provide updates on condition.
• Transports patients from triage to treatment area per nurse request.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
