Job summary

Duke Raleigh Hospital, a campus of Duke University Health System, is seeking an Emergency Department Tech I at the Raleigh, NC location. Under the supervision of the nurse, you will assist with basic life support, patient transport, and support for ED operations.

Qualifications include High school diploma or GED, NCA I or EMT training, BLS, and ability to lift and move patients. This regular, on-site position offers exposure to comprehensive emergency services and opportunities for professional

Qualifications

• Work requires graduation from an accredited high school or GED and completion of the NCA I training or North Carolina EMT training.
• Current minimum listing as an NCA I or EMT with no substantiated findings; BLS required.
• 1 year of relatable experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Nurse, performs initial basic life support interventions (airway, breathing, and circulation).
• Initiates life-saving measures: open airway, hemorrhage control, chest compressions, stabilization of fractures, cervical spine protection.
• Stabilizes and extricates injured patients from vehicles at the ED entrance.
• Assists patients to and from vehicles and the ED.
• Acts as liaison between patient family and ED staff, maintaining communication on patient condition.
• Transports patients from triage/waiting area to the treatment area.
• Duke Raleigh ED duties may include EKGs and vital signs per policy.
• Performs related duties as required.
